Announcement Regarding Parent Portal
We are writing to inform you that the eschool parent portal is, at the moment, malfunctioning. Therefore, many of you are unable to view your child’s third quarter report card. We join you in your frustration with eschool and regret that this has happened for the second time in this school year, even though we were assured by the company that this would not happen again. As a precaution and in anticipation of this problem, we printed two sets of report cards prior to this breakdown. One set will be distributed to the students during their ninth period class tomorrow (Thursday) and the other set will be sent to you via the US postal service. Please know that this problem is manifested in the eschool server and, as such, we have no control over an immediate correction, other than to supply you with hard copies of your child’s report. In the long term, the district has already begun to actively seek a new student management system. As you know, we expect excellence from our district’s professionals and we insist for nothing less from our contracted services. We appreciate your patience and please know that the district will move quickly and aggressively towards a viable solution.
Pupil Transportation - Update on Van Buses Prohibited on NYS Parkways
Members of the New York Association of Pupil Transportation (NYAPT) and legal counsel are working with the State Parks Department, locally and in Albany, to gain permits for operation of all van buses on the parkways. In addition, work on is being done to utilize the Wantagh Pkwy, Loop Pkwy and the Meadowbrook Pkwy to points south of Merrick Road for all buses. We are pleased with the communications thus far with the Parks Department in Albany and we are hopeful that all contractors and school owned van buses will have the opportunity to make application for permits to once again travel on the parkways in Nassau and Suffolk Counties. Hopefully, this will happen over the next few business days. More to come...
